Eco Reps Leadership Program - Application 2025-2026
Are you interested in being a leader in sustainability on campus? Do you have a passion for the environment you want to share with others in your residence halls? Become an Eco Rep for your house or hall!

Eco Reps are peer-to-peer sustainability leaders in residence halls, greek houses and off-campus houses throughout campus. Eco Reps educate residents and help foster sustainable habits and life-long behavior change in Lafayette’s living communities that also contribute to our campus goals. Eco Reps will receive $540 per year paid biweekly ($33.75 for 8 pay periods per semester). All assignments must be completed in order to be allocated the stipend.

All majors and backgrounds are welcome to apply. We look for the following skills in candidates:
  • Creative Thinkers
  • Passion for sustainability and the environment
  • Leadership skills or looking to build them
  • Effective time management
  • Communication skills
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Commitment to team meetings and projects on campus
Eco Reps are expected to commit 3-4 hours a week, dependent on workload and upcoming events. Responsibilities include:
  • Attend virtual Eco Rep training on Thursday August 14th from 9am-11am
  • Move-in on Tuesday August 19th to help with Green Move In and the Campus Thrift Store. (sophomores, juniors and seniors only)
  • Attend 1 hour weekly Eco Rep meetings with Eco Rep Coordinators. Meetings will be held weekly on Tuesdays from 12:15-1:15pm. 
  • Complete 3 outreach initiatives per semester with your house/hall/residential area. Initiatives are events or activities that engage and educate residents in sustainable topics. 
  • Complete rounds each week for your residential area. These include tasks like checking waste closets, water bottle refill stations, malfunctioning lights/faucets, taking out the compost bin, etc. Rounds include supporting the implementation of the Sustainable Living Certificate by checking rooms and awarding certificates. 
  • Work at least 2 Eco Reps campus events per semester. Eco Reps host 3-4 campus events per semester, one per month. Events for the academic year are Green Move In (August 19-29), Game Day Football (September), Sustainability Month (October), Game Day Basketball (February), Trashion Show (March), Earth Month (April), Green Move Out (May)
  • Participate in 1 waste audit per year. Eco Reps host 2 waste audits per year to determine current waste practices and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Stay up to date and communicate with your fellow Eco Reps, Eco-Rep Coordinators, houses and halls

NOTE:  This is NOT Federal Work Study or Job eligible.  The hours worked on this position will not count towards your financial aid package.  All students are welcome to apply, however.
