FCUSD Student Intent to Participate in a SCOE Language Exam: Required prior to testing

WHO QUALIFIES FOR THE SCOE LANGUAGE EXAM?
The Intent to Participate form is for a student who meets the English proficiency criteria for the State Seal of Biliteracy and may be proficient in a language other than English but is not taking; or has taken an AP, IB, SAT or has not taken a 4-year course of study, or equivalent, or any other world language exam in the language of interest.

NOTE:
Assembly Bill 370 was signed by Governor Newsom on October 7, 2023 and is to be effective January 1, 2024. With the new SSB legislation, 2024 graduating seniors can demonstrate English proficiency  by the following methods:  Complete English Language Arts (ELA) requirements for graduation with a GPA of 3.0 or higher; or,  have passed the CA standards Assessment (CAASPP)at the "standard met" or above in English Language Arts at the 11th grade; or,   score three or higher on the AP examination (ELA);  or, score four or higher on the IB examination
IMPORTANT
By completing this form, the student MAY be selected to participate in the language exam process conducted in the world language of interest.

DIRECTIONS
Complete one form per language of interest to test. For example: Martin qualifies to test for Spanish and French. Martin will compete this form once for Spanish and another time for French

WHAT LANGUAGES ARE TESTED?
American Sign Language (ASL), Arabic, Armenian, Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), Dari, Farsi, French, German, Hindi, Hmong, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Lao, Pashto, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Tamil, Telugu, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese.

Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing
