2023-2024 GRIT Application

WISD offers admission to Grizzard Regional Institute of Technology, through a partnership with Weatherford College. Our commitment to lifelong learning has resulted in growing dual credit opportunities for our students. Through our community college partner, we will offer our GRIT students an opportunity to attend both high school and college classes. The goal is for all students to graduate with a high school diploma, Level 1 Industry Certification and/or an associate degree free of charge.

Grizzard Regional Institute of Technology will accept incoming 9th graders for the fall 2023 school year. 

Application Criteria:

8th grade students who are interested in completing one of the 4 Pathways:

    • Automotive Technology

    • Cosmetology

    • Cybersecurity

    • Manufacturing/Welding Technology 

  • Students must complete an application during the designated application windows.

  • Students must agree to comply with GRIT’s guidelines and expectations.


Benefits of Grizzard Regional Institute of Technology:

  • Potential to earn a  Level 1 certification, and/or an Associate's Degree from Weatherford College at no cost. 

  • Increase employability skills.

  • Provides work-based learning experiences at every grade level

  • Creates a seamless transition from high school through college and into employment through local partnerships with institutions of higher education and industry.

  • Provide dual credit courses at no cost to students.

  • Offer courses that mirror a college setting, with academic counseling to help students develop the skills needed for post-high school success.

  • Increase college enrollment and success rates for all students.

  • Strengthen connections between middle schools, high schools and higher education institutions to promote a culture of college readiness.
