Applications are invited for the VALA Tech Camp 2017 Diversity Scholarship, sponsored by our PD Partner, Linux Australia.

Linux Australia is committed to diversity of participation in open technologies and has chosen to support the Diversity Scholarship in line with their organisational values.

The purpose of the Diversity Scholarship is to encourage and enable attendance at VALA Tech Camp 2017 by people who are not normally well-represented at VALA events and/or in the industry, due to disadvantage of one kind or another.

The VALA Tech Camp 2017 Linux Australia Diversity Scholarship is open to:
• Any Australian person of Indigenous heritage; and/or
• Any Australian person who resides in a regional, rural or remote location, including Darwin

In awarding the Scholarship, consideration will be given to:-
• The ability of the Applicant to share the knowledge they gain at VALA Tech Camp 2017 with their local library and/or technical community via any form, such as blog, podcast, social media etc, as demonstrated through previous work, volunteer or student experience
• The impact the Scholarship will have on the Applicant's future career in the library and/or technology sector, as demonstrated through a 200 word statement in this Application or a 3 minute video.

Closing Date for Applications: Monday 5 June, 2017. Successful applicants will be notified by Friday 9th June, 2017.

By submitting this application for the VALA Tech Camp 2017 Linux Australia Diversity Scholarship, I acknowledge that travel costs up to $2,000 will be paid by VALA, any additional expenses will be incurred and paid by me and I agree to observe the terms and conditions outlined below.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The successful applicant will:
1. Attend both full days of VALA Tech Camp 2017 (13 & 14 July 2017)
2. Provide a detailed account of all expenses incurred, and all available supporting receipts
3. Share the knowledge gained at VALA Tech Camp with their local library and/or technical community via any form, such as blog, podcast, social media.
4. Provide a 300-400 word post-event report, outlining key learnings and professional outcomes from the scholarship opportunity (for use in publications and reporting by VALA and Linux Australia)

An amount not exceeding $2,000 AUD (including any GST costs) will be made available to the successful applicant to fund travel and accommodation in Melbourne from 12th to 14th July 2017.

In addition, full registration to attend VALA Tech Camp 2017 will be provided.
