The City of Akron
Bicentennial Commission welcomes proposals from institutions, businesses, nonprofit organizations, houses of worship, and community groups for the endorsement of events celebrating Akron's Bicentennial that will be open and accessible to the public. The Bicentennial Commission may also serve as a sponsor of events or programs and may provide limited funding.
There will be a Bicentennial Magazine that will include a calendar of neighborhood events. While the deadline has passed for the print version, a DIGITAL version will be updated to include events that are submitted after this date. All neighborhood events will be listed on our website at Akron200.org
Basic instructions are included below. You may download a pdf with more detailed instructions

Application Instructions
- This application must be completed at least 60 days prior to the scheduled event for city-wide events, and 30 days prior to the scheduled event neighborhood events. Longer lead times for approval are desirable, especially for any event requesting advance publicity.
- Where City of Akron facilities or services are to be used, you need to complete BOTH this Bicentennial Commission event application AND the City of Akron Community Event application. More information about the City of Akron Community Event application can be found here.
- Your application may request sponsorship, use of the Bicentennial logo, and potential funding, although funding opportunities will be very limited. Accepted events will be featured on the Bicentennial website and social media channels.
- The Commission may request amendments to the application before recommending approval.
- Guidelines must be followed regarding the use of the Bicentennial logo.
