2021 SPFS Teen Board Application
The Shalom Park Freedom School (SPFS) is pleased to accept applications from rising 10th graders through rising 12th graders for its summer 2021 Teen Board.

The Shalom Park Freedom School will operate an in-person program for scholars this summer, but because of the COVID pandemic, the program will not be able to have on-site volunteers . That said, volunteers (assisting remotely) are even more important this year!
To serve on the teen board, teens will be required to take part in fundraising, host their own supply drive to benefit SPFS before the third week of June, and participate in a pen-pal program with the in-person scholars at Shalom Park. Teens are also asked (but not required) to volunteer for 2-3 shifts in the Freedom School warehouse to assemble packets or outdoor distribution sites to pass out these packets to scholar families. Covid guidelines will be followed at the warehouse and distribution sites. Teens will be sent a link to sign up to volunteer at the warehouse and distribution sites and can choose the dates that they want to volunteer. Supply drives to collect donations from teen board members and the surrounding community will be held at the Levine JCC on June 7 and June 21 from 10-12. Limited spots will be available to volunteer at the collection sites.

SPFS program dates are JUNE 14th - JULY 22nd 2021. The main tasks required of teen board members can be completed with some flexibility within that timeframe. Unlike the traditional program, teens are not committing to participating during two set weeks.

APPLICATION DEADLINE is May 10, 2021 but we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please reach out to SPFS Teen Board Committee Co-Chairs: Lauren Campbell (lauren.campbell@allentate.com) or Nancy Zolotorofe (nancy@internationalcollegecounselors.com)
