International Migrants Day Celebrations
In celebration of International Migrants Day ( December 18th) , IOM and UNICEF will co-host a series of UN TOGETHER branded events: A  film festival with over 30 selected films on migration and refugees at 3 UN Plaza. The month-long celebration will also include the critically acclaimed art installation UNPACKED: Refugee Baggage from 5 Dec 2017 - 2 January 2018 and culminate on 18th December 2017 on International Migrants Day.

14:00 - 15:30 A panel discussion on “Putting migrant children’s rights upfront: Challenges and duties in protecting the human rights of children in the context of international migration”
15:30 – 17:30 Screening of the Global Migration Film Festival Sea Sorrow followed by a panel discussion on “How films and art can change the conversation about migration” with the film director and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Vanessa Redgrave. She is joined by artists Mohamad Hafez and Ahmed Badr, creators of the unique month-long art exhibit UNPACKED: Refugee Baggage and Together podcasts. Moderated by Lara Setrakian, Refugees Deeply.
17:30 - 18:00 International Migrants Day reception. Welcome by co-hosts UNICEF Executive Director and IOM Director General. Remarks by the President of the General Assembly and the UN Secretary-General
18:00 - 19:00 A panel discussion on “What Migrants Bring to a World on the Move” with IOM Director General, UN SRSG for International Migration, UNICEF Director of Programmes, Permanent Representative of Switzerland and Permanent Representative of Mexico. Moderated by IOM Media and Communication Director
19:00 – 19:30 Experiencing cultural diversity through food and drinks from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan prepared by refugees in New York City
