First Peoples' Cultural Council (FPCC) is frequently asked for translations in First Nations languages. These are usually requests to translate a document or letter, or a small number of words or phrases into a language. For example: "We would like to have our organization's motto (one sentence) translated into the local language."
If you are a fluent speaker of your First Nations language in B.C. and would like to join the FPCC First Nations Language Translation Registry , please complete this form. When FPCC receives requests for written translations into your language, we will provide your name and contact information to the requestor who will follow up with you directly.
NOTE: FPCC is not offering a translation service. We will simply provide the names of registered translators to those who request it. It is up to the requestor to contact the translator directly. If you are registered as a translator, it is up to you to set the fees for your service directly with the requestor. You will need to provide your email address and/or phone number in order to be contacted but please be aware this will be provided to those who request the registry list.
Based on rates for Indigenous language translation in other provinces, here are recommended rates:
$50 for 1 – 5 words
$100 for 6 – 10 words
$200 for 11 – 50 words
Larger translation contracts to be negotiated with translator.
