All God's Chillun Got Wings
This spring, the Department of Performing and Arts and Civic Ensemble present Eugene O’Neill’s All God’s Chillun Got Wings, a provocative, rarely-produced play about an interracial marriage in the 1920’s. Jim, a black man, loves Ella, a white woman. She loves him back. They struggle to come together from grade school through high school graduation and into marriage. Ella begins to mentally unravel and undermines Jim's attempts to become a lawyer, setting the stage for a rabid climax. O'Neill paints a bitter picture about the external pressures on interracial marriage, but the biggest pressures come from within Jim and Ella themselves.

The play takes place at the Kiplinger Theatre in the Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts at 430 College Avenue, Ithaca, NY 14850. If you have a group of 10 or more, we can help you coordinate transportation. Please call 607-241-0195 for assistance.
