ABOUT THE PIECE:
Jessica Lowe will be creating a piece titled "Cardiac Arrest". The inspiration behind Cardiac Arrest stems from the mental condition, hypochondriasis. Hypochondriasis is a condition in which a person is excessively and unduly worried about having a serious illness, known as a hypochondriac. Hypochondriacs become unduly alarmed about any physical or psychological symptoms they detect, no matter how minor the symptom may be, and are convinced that they have, or are about to be diagnosed with, a serious illness.
This is a movement exploration of the cardiovascular system and the research of feeling something wrong inside of the body. This research acts as a method of healing through movement generation and expression and creating awareness towards this anxiety disorder. An excerpt of Cardiac Arrest was premiered at Kinetic Studio Open Studio Series in November 2024.
