In October 2017, GSU decisively won its union recognition election by a margin greater than 2:1. Despite this clear statement, the University administration has refused to even come to the table to begin negotiating a first contract with GSU.
As undergraduates, we believe the issues GSU is fighting for — fair wages, decent benefits, and a university run for its students, workers and faculty — are intrinsically linked with undergraduate education. Graduate workers are our instructors, our TAs, and our mentors, and we know they deserve a decent standard of living. The university loves its ranking in U.S. News & World Report, but it wouldn't be able to provide the quality education it does without the labor of graduate workers.
