25by2025 - Level 2 - Think Through Your Dare Scenario
Ready to come up with a dare, some milestones, and a benchmark or two? Here are some possible scenarios just to get your brain spinning! You do not have to use these benchmarks or follow these paths to qualify for the dare. We welcome any progress on any front as long as you can somehow measure it. In the meantime, here are some obvious ways to measure 25% of something you do everyday.

Reducing consumption of animal products reduces your greenhouse gas emissions. Consider a commitment to one of the following or suggest an idea:
Cut out animal products in at least 6 meals during the week. (~25% of 21 meals)
Reduce animal products to 1/4 or less of your plate. (share before and after pictures)
Source at least 1/4 of the food on your plate from local growers.
Start a garden and grow some of your own food.

Reducing the amount of organic matter in the garbage reduces greenhouse gas emissions and can help nourish soil. Consider a commitment to one of the following or suggest an idea:
Separate your food scraps and green waste from the garbage, roughly measure your diversion.
Start composting at home or as a community.

Changing your landscaping and watering habits can reduce water use, support native biodiversity, or increase land productivity. Consider a commitment to one of the following or suggest an idea:

Replace at least 1/4 of your lawn with a native plant garden or drought friendly landscaping.
Start an herb, fruit, and/or vegetable garden in your backyard or balcony.
Replace your sprinklers or hoses for more water efficient/conserving systems.
Change your watering schedule to early morning or after dark (when less water evaporates).
Collect lightly used water from your sinks, showers and water bottles to water plants.

You can reduce your emissions and save money by changing your driving habits. Consider a commitment to one of the following or suggest an idea:
Reduce the number car trips you take for errands by 25% less. (log your miles)
Walk, bike, or take public transportation for 1 of 4 trips to places nearby.
Get car maintenance regularly to maintain engine performance and efficiency.

Plastic has permeated every part of our lives. Refuse, reduce, reuse, or recycle plastic by at least 25%. Consider a commitment to one of the following or suggest an idea:
Refuse plastic items like bags, straws, or utensils.
Reduce purchases in plastic containers or packaging.
Reuse plastic containers by saving and washing them.
Recycle plastics properly by cleaning and sorting them.
Buy 25% of items with minimal packaging or package free.
Bring your own reusable cups, utensils, containers, or bags.
