The role of the EBR Transportation Department is to transport thousands of students safely and efficiently to and from school each day. In preparation for the upcoming 2026-27 school year, we are offering families the opportunity to opt-out of school bus transportation services if those services are not needed.
This opt-out program is designed for families who do not plan to have their student(s) ride the bus to or from school. Participating helps us:
- Reduce the number of buses in operation, positively impacting the current bus driver shortage.
- Improve the accuracy of route planning.
- Shorten travel time for students who ride.
SPECIAL NOTES:- Delayed Openings & Early Dismissals: Families who opt out are responsible for student transportation on days with delayed openings or early dismissals.
- Choice Schools/Magnet Programs: Students who enroll in a choice program, such as a magnet school, may have a longer distance to get to their bus stop and may have a longer bus ride.
- If the student's transportation needs change, they can opt back in for transportation services.
- Opting out only applies to daily transportation to and from school. Students will still have access to district transportation for field trips, athletic events, and other school-sponsored activities.
- Students within 1-Mile Radius: Students who live within a one-mile radius from their home school are to be self-transported. Please refer to Bulletin 119 for any questions.
