The annual Thomas Merton Award honors nationally or internationally known activists with a lifelong passion of working on issues related to peace, human rights, or racial, economic, and environmental justice. Past awardees include Dorothy Day, Vandana Shiva, Howard Zinn, Angela Davis, and Jeremy Scahill. The TMC will present the Thomas Merton Award at our annual fundraising dinner in November, 2017.

The Thomas Merton Center’s annual New Person award honors Pittsburghers making a big impact in social justice today. Please nominate a Pittsburgh artist, activist, or organization currently working on issues related to peace, human rights, or racial, economic, and environmental justice. The TMC will present the New Person award at a community celebration in 2017.
