The Art, Music & Poetry of the Holocaust
Thursday, March 30th, 7pm at Beth Torah Benny Rok Campus, 20350 NE 26th Ave, Miami, FL 33180. Scholar and historian, Dr. Robert Watson, will present a powerful and meaningful program focused on the art, music and poetry of the Holocaust. Many noted Jewish intellectuals, composers and artists in camps such as Theresienstadt hoped to preserve a degree of humanity in the face of almost certain death and unspeakable horror. Amidst almost certain death and unspeakable atrocities, the Jews knew Hitler wanted to not only eliminate Jewry but also erase the culture. Thus, the effort to produce art, compose and perform music, learn, study took on new purpose.
