What does it mean to meaningfully include youth? Define your own terms!
The purpose of this survey is to define concepts like "meaningful inclusion" based on how young people define their terms. These survey questions serve to generate new definitions of key concepts that matter to young people and youth participation in peacebuilding. Young people are considered as age 18-29 in this context. Youth is used interchangeably with young people.

What will this survey be used for? A book project on youth, peacebuilding, and sustainability
This survey will inform an edited volume highlighting youth to be published as one of the projects of Seeds for Mindanao’s Advocacy on Youth Leadership (SMAYL) in December 2021. The author, Carolyn Williams, created this survey to generate youth definitions of key concepts to be used in the book and is volunteering her contributions to this project.

SMAYL is a 2021 Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Seeds for the Future Program grantee, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and funded through a grant from the U.S. Mission to ASEAN.
Why should I take this survey? Create definitions of terms that impact you
Youth definitions of inclusion will help inform adult leaders about how to engage young people meaningfully and on youth terms. These definitions will also serve young leaders and peacebuilders when talking about how they want to be involved with adult decision-makers and engaged by adult-led institutions.
Who will see my survey response? The book chapter author and SMAYL book editors
Your responses will be used anonymously, unless you wish to be quoted personally, then you will have an opportunity to provide your personal information to be credited in the project.

The author will use your responses to inform the book chapter and define the terms used in that chapter. As part of the editing process, survey responses may be shared with SMAYL editors.
