2022-2023 RE Connect & Participate
Unitarian Universalist religious education is neither book nor guru centered.
It is not adult or even child centered. It is congregation centered, wherein all
ages cooperatively engage in what Starr Williams called 'a cycle of nurturing.'
- Rev. Tom Owen Towle
Religious Exploration is one of the interwoven, vibrant ministries of this congregation. As we nurture the spiritual growth of our children and youth, we affect their lives and develop the future of Unitarian Universalism. We pledge to ensure that volunteering with RE feels like a way to nurture your own spiritual journey and does not consume all of your Sunday mornings.

TO SUPPORT THE SPIRITUAL GROWTH AND INCLUSION OF OUR YOUNG PEOPLE, I WILL...
Learn the names of a couple children and youth, and greet them so they feel visible, welcome, and included.
Help plan an all ages social event, e.g., game night or movie night.
Share an interest, e.g., spiritual journeys, justice, joyous noise and movement, acting, photography, music. Write your idea in the "Notes" box below.
Help plan some social activities for youth, e.g., bowling or movie night.
Organize a list of activities our young people participate in (e.g., dance recitals, school musicals and concerts, sports games) so we can show up in meaningful ways in their lives.
Help build resources for families to use at home that support parents/caregivers as the primary educators.
Join a teaching team and teach no more than five classes during the worship year. Our curriculum will focus on UU identity and history. In the "Notes" section below, indicate if you are interested in teaching K-3rd grade, 4th-5th grade, or 6th-7th grade.
Serve as an assistant in a RE class, an additional adult in the classroom to uphold Safe Congregation practices. No preparation required! In the "Notes" box below, let us know if you'll be an assistant 1-2 times, 3-4 times, 5-6 times.
Consider getting trained to lead Our Whole Lives classes. In the "Notes" box below indicate if you are interested in K-6th grade training or 7th-9th grade training.
Participate in RE/PlaceKeeping activities.
Lead or support social action and justice activities.
Collaborate with Tracy on Children’s Chapels focused on the six Sources of our faith.
Help with community outreach and connection with local organizations that share our values.
Join the RE Council, which meets once each month to coordinate RE activities, nurture RE as a ministry of this congregation, and connect with each other.
If you have a way you'd like to contribute that's not listed, please add it in the "Notes" box below.
NOTES - Please use this section to offer responses to options listed above as well as your own ideas and suggestions. Thank you!
