This effort is being led by Western Wisconsin for Nonpartisan Voting Districts (WWNVD.)
We're making phone calls in Polk County to give them information about the nonpartisan redistricting referendum on their ballot on April 6th. In addition to providing information about the referendum, we also hope to give voters a chance to reflect on their opinion, learn more, and ask questions.
We will gather 2 Tuesday nights and 2 Saturday mornings on zoom to make calls together. We will start every shift with a short training and/or refresher where we will go over how to use the virtual phonebank website, practice the script and answer any questions you have. We will end every shift with a debrief. There will be 2 people available at every phonebank to answer questions and listen to anyone who wants to express joy over an amazing call or grief over a bad call.
The goal is to get the referendum passed with a large majority. This phonebank is part of a larger effort to get out the word including postcard mailings, newspaper articles, radio announcements, letters to the editor, sign rallies, and virtual information sessions. If you want to get caught up on the basic of nonpartisan redistricting, watch this fantastic video from the WI Farmers Union:
