For reference: (A) were our previous 2 designs and (B) is our new combined design
The new book page design is...
Terrible, please change it back
A game changer -- so much better
Please note: This re-design has not changed how long books are lent for + waitlists. If you have comments about borrowing & waitlists, please let us know here -- we're listening. But please also help us improve by letting us know your thoughts about the page redesign. Thank you!
Tell us about yourself -- what's important to you in a Book page?
Finding a book in the right language
Learning more about the book (reading the book's description, preview)
Reviewing metadata (like isbn, publication date)
Ability to edit and contribute information to the catalog
Reading / Borrowing the book
Adding the book to my Reading Log or lists
My main issues with the previous design was...
The info I needed was split between 2 pages
It was hard to switch between editions to find the right available book
The 2 page designs were confusing (work & edition)
The page loaded too slowly
There was too much info "above the fold"
What do you like about the new page design?
It works better on my phone
New "Read more" links to hide/show long descriptions
Borrow/read buttons are always in the same place
Having one page for works and editions
The fun effect when I hover over the book cover!
Navigating with the tab bar
Easier to switch to the book I want
What DON'T you like about the new page design / what might you change?
The page is too cluttered
The design looks messy
Having one page is more confusing
The URLs are confusing
The page feels slower
