All students currently taking College Now will be placed into College Now for the Spring semester unless you have additional requirements needed for graduation that must be placed onto your program. You should speak to your guidance counselor if you have any questions about this.

ALL College Now classes you take and earn credit can be used at ALL CUNY colleges, all SUNY colleges and MOST private colleges. Taking College Now will save you time and money when you enter college. IT IS WORTH IT!

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:

TYS11U - COMPUTER CONCEPTS -
Introduces the applications of word processing, spreadsheets,
and presentation graphics—and the Internet.
Students learn conceptual and operational skills
necessary to successfully compete in a modern
computer business environment.

HQS11U - COLLEGE NOW SOCIOLOGY
Issues of current significance are studied using concepts and methodologies of the behavioral and social sciences, especially sociology and psychology. Coursework is brought to life by relating the topics of violence, authority, work, leisure, popular culture and peer pressure to course readings, discussions, films and students' life experiences.

ECS11U - MASS MEDIA
Communications have had a global impact on everyone's life, personal and professional. This course will provide an introduction to all areas of mass communications and media literacy through the study of radio, television, film, newspapers, magazines, books and the Internet.

ELS11U - HUMANITIES
his course introduces students to outstanding literature, art, film and music from the beginning of the 20th century to the present. By exploring the way these subjects are related, students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of modern American culture and the individuals who influenced the humanities. COUNTS AS A CORE ENGLISH IN COLLEGE

ECS22U - FILM STUDIES
An exploration of film with intention to awaken in the students an
awareness of this media as a creative force. The historical, social, psychological and
aesthetic aspects of film will be studied.

HQS11U - CRIMINAL JUSTICE
This course endeavors to provide students with an overview of crime in America and the three elements of the criminal justice system: the police, the courts, and corrections.

HLS11U - CONSTITUTIONAL LAW
This course is designed for students interested in a pre-law curriculum. United States Supreme Court decisions and opinions will be studied.

SWS11U - COLLEGE NOW SCIENCE
The most recent and important discoveries in the biological and physical sciences are presented,observed, discussed, and experimented with, to acquaint students with the world around them. Brain research, studies of aging, disease, fertility, immunity,and the origin of life are explored. Studies emphasize relations to mankind's place in the universe, selfexplorations and technological achievements.
