Hack4Impact (hack4impact.org) is a student-run nonprofit dedicated to building web and mobile software for other nonprofits. Our vision is two-fold: a tech industry that emphasizes social impact as a core tenet of success and a nonprofit space that is empowered by and values technology.
We collaborate with 3-5 organizations per semester to develop applications that enable the organizations to strengthen their impact. Each organization is paired with a team of 5-8 University of Pennsylvania students -- project teams consist of developers, a technical lead, and a product manager.
We have completed dozens projects in areas ranging from microfinance to education, tackling issues such as juvenile justice and nonprofit overhead. For examples of our work and client testimonials, please visit http://hack4impact.org/projects.
We want you to propose applications that will address your organization’s needs. Examples of these may include: - A platform that displays your organization’s resources for the public on a map. - A system to communicate with and collect data from users via text message surveys.- A tool to automate a time-consuming manual task.- An application that allows you to keep track of the organization's activities and see where cost cutting can occur.- An application to keep track of the people you serve and better assess your overall impact.- Or anything else that will empower you to broaden your impact!
This application is due by January 15, 2018
If you submit your application as soon as possible, we may ask for clarifications to help strengthen your application, and you will have the option to resubmit your application as necessary.
Note that we charge $1000 per project. Our pricing is need-based, and if your organization is not able to afford the cost, we will be happy to negotiate a lower fee that fits the needs of your organization. All client contributions feed right back into Hack4Impact to pay for professional development events, speakers, organization retreats, and operating costs.
