Help Oxplore to answer Big Questions: contribute to Oxford’s digital outreach
Dr Alex Pryce and Sarah Wilkin, Oxplore Project Team, Undergraduate Admissions & Outreach Office
Oxplore is an innovative new digital outreach portal from the University of Oxford. As the ‘Home of Big Questions’ it aims to engage those from 11 to 18 years with debates and ideas that go beyond what is covered in the school classroom. Big questions tackle complex ideas across a wide range of subjects and draw on the latest research undertaken at Oxford.
Alex and Sarah from the project team will demonstrate the portal functionality and invite you to help review some of the content for the pilot. We’ll also invite your contributions on how ECRs would like to contribute in future.
The HEAT Is On: Recording and Evaluating Outreach Work
Wes English: Widening Participation Coordinator, Undergraduate Admissions & Outreach Office
The HEAT (Higher Education Access Tracker) database is now the primary means for recording outreach work across the collegiate university. We’ll discuss how HEAT can help us keep track of the wide variety of outreach work that goes on across the university and how it can play a part in helping to show its impact.
6.45-8pm Networking drinks at All Bar One, High Street
The Oxford Early Career Academic Outreach Network aims to connect early career academics (D.Phil. students, postdocs or fixed-term lecturers) with opportunities to do outreach in Oxford and further afield, as well as to provide them with appropriate training opportunities and recognition for their work at an institutional level. This network is intended to complement current training provision elsewhere within the collegiate University.
