TEDxDavenport Speaking/Performance Application
First and foremost, we consider the “Idea Worth Spreading”. To be considered, an idea should be:
1. New, Interesting,Evidence-Based and Realistic (check out the TED Content Guidelines for more on this)
2. Able to be shared in 15 minutes or less (usually much less)
3. Be the best person to speak to this idea and have credibility among their peers in the subject area of the talk
4. Be compelling, authentic, and engaging in communicating their idea

We curate applications year round for our annual events. We cannot contact every applicant on their application status, as we receive over 1,000 applications annually. Approximately 8-12 speakers are selected for each year's event, and selections are made 4 to 6 months in advance of the event. We retain all applications and review them for future events. You can submit more than one application.

95% of applicants are rejected based solely on their answer to this question. It's more important than all other questions combined. If you read and follow the advice below, your odds of being accepted grow exponentially. (And may the odds be ever in your favor...)

- TEDx talks are NOT motivational speeches. If the core idea of your talk is something like "be your authentic self" or "follow your passion," it will be rejected.
- TEDx talks are NOT just personal stories. If you want to apply with a personal story, you must draw a UNIQUE idea or lesson from that story to qualify.
- TEDx Talks are NOT lectures or biographies. You must have a unique idea / opinion about your subject to qualify.
- Professional speakers - we only accept NEW material. Step away from the circuit speech.
- Great TEDx Talks center on ONE single "idea worth spreading." Do you have a new way of approaching an old problem, a challenge to the status quo, fascinating research, or innovative technology and design? Perfect! That's what we're looking for.

Speakers, with all of that in mind, what IDEA will you present in your TEDx Talk? Be clear and specific. Don't just tease a concept or pitch a title.
