Our 3rd Annual Sprout & Shout Event will be Saturday, May 6, 3:00-5:00 PM at River Mist Preschool and this event reflects River Mist’s focus on nature-based education. Join us for Fun & Games, Adventures & Activities, "Kick Up Your Heels" Live Music, Amazing Silent Auction, Tantalizing Tastes & Lively Libations. River Mist is located on 4 acres connected to the Florida River and our school incorporates the observation of plants and wildlife, seed to table food practices and adventure & play learning into its curriculum.
We are seeking Donations for our Silent Auction or Cash Donations to support our school. Great auction items and ideas that focus on our theme are: gardening/ nature/ sustainability/ farming/ cooking/ kids & parents day out/ local adventure. Last year we had a successful fundraiser and we were able to expand our playground and replace a climber. This year we will utilize the event to announce the beginning of our Capital Campaign Program to build a space allowing River Mist to fill a much needed early childhood education gap in our community. We will be expanding our current enrollment with a goal to eventually serve over 75 regional families.
This year’s event will Honor Retiree Debbie Costo who has been a teacher, assistant director, mentor and friend to River Mist since 2006. Her early childhood education career began in 1983 and she owned her own preschool in Houston from 1985-1991 and was featured at the Democratic National Convention as an example of the future of early childhood education. She has served on a local Colorado NAEYC board, helping develop of a program for teenage mothers to learn parenting skills while finishing high school. Debbie has dedicated over 34 years of her life to the field of early childhood education and to the service of children, families, and teachers. We appreciate all of her contributions over the past 11 years in making River Mist what it is today. We are excited to announce that she will continue to serve as a leader on our board of directors.
