Thank you for your interest in hosting a USA Field Hockey ADM (American Development Model) Clinic. Prior to completing the interest form, please read through USA Field Hockey’s host expectations.
1. Provide a program that aligns with USA Field Hockey's Mission to Grow the Game.
Serve Members. Succeed Internationally.
2. Provide an ADM aligned program that welcomes all participants and maximizes
minimum of a 10:1 player to coach ratio.
- Use of the following recommendation is advised when working with younger
players: children 5 years of age will require a 5:1 player to coach ratio, children
6 years of age will require a 6:1 player to coach ratio, children 7 years of age
will require a 7:1 player to coach ratio, children 8 years of age will require a 8:1
player to coach ratio, children 9 years of age will require a 9:1 player to coach
ratio, and children 10 years and up will require a 10:1 player to coach ratio.
- All clinic coaches read through and review curriculum content and watch
videos in advance of the clinic. Curriculum and videos will be emailed to host
in advance.
4. Make sure that all coaches have a current USA Field Hockey Membership at least 3 weeks before the
clinic date.
- Coaches are mandated by law to have a cleared background check and have
completed SafeSport Training prior to working with children and adolescents.
- USA Field Hockey National and State Chapter Coach and National Umpire Memberships include a background check and SafeSport Training. However, new coaches must proactively submit information and use the links within their member portal to take the SafeSport trianing.
- All youth helpers, 17 and under, must have a current U19 Membership and
have completed SafeSport Training prior to working with children and adolescents. All youth
helpers must be accompanied by an adult coach (with a current USA Field Hockey Coach or
Umpire Membership) and must never be left alone with players.

USA Field Hockey SafeSport 5. Secure/rent a facility.
- Facilities can be indoor or outdoor.
- Playing surface is important in player development. Faster surfaces such as
turf, tennis courts, or gym floors allows for a faster and more enjoyable
playing experience. If playing on grass, low cut grass is preferred.
- Players each receive a USA Field Hockey GO Ball as part of their player kit for the event
- The host is responsible for covering all facility expenses.
6. Have a maximum of 100 participants per 60 x 100 yard field. If additional space is
booked, registration can exceed 100 participants.
7. Close registration 12-14 days prior to the clinic date. This will provide an adequate
amount of time to fulfill the equipment order and to secure the appropriate number
of coaches for the clinic.
8. Be responsible for the marketing and promotion of the clinic in the local community.
- USA Field Hockey will create and provide a flyer for the host.
- Event registration will be posted on
usafieldhockey.com.
- USA Field Hockey will share the registration link on social media platforms.
9. Offer follow-up play opportunities for continued engagement for all clinic
participants.
10. Complete a post event survey that will be provided by a USA Field Hockey staff
member.
