GEA Research Competition Application 2017
Important Information:
- The competition will take place on Thursday, April 20th, 2017 in various locations throughout the Engineering Complex (LEEP2 and M2SEC).
- The poster presentation competition will take place from 10:00am-12:00pm in the Atrium of LEEP2.
- The podium presentation competition will take place from 1:00pm-4:00pm.
- This year, there will be an undergraduate and graduate student division. The two divisions will be judge separately.
- Space may be limited, submit early to secure a spot.
- Winning participants will be notified via email.
- PLEASE FILL OUT THIS FORM ON OR BEFORE 5:00PM ON FRIDAY, APRIL 7TH.

Eligibility:
Applications will be accepted from any undergraduate or graduate student currently registered in the School of Engineering, as long as the research is based on original research performed at KU. Participants may present research that is currently submitted to a professional conference. Submissions may have multiple authors, including undergraduate students, students from other disciplines within the university, or people from private firms; the abstract should reflect multiple authorship if the work was carried out by teams. The lead author will be responsible for presenting at the competition.

Abstracts:
Complete the Participant Application form on or before April 2nd. The abstract should be no more than 200 words. Competition space is limited, so please submit abstracts as soon as possible. Abstracts will be used to organize the competition and will be published in the competition program. The abstracts will not be judged as part of the competition.

Poster Presentations:
- GEA is not responsible for printing your poster.
- Printing requests are to be submitted electronically to the Engineering Computer Commons at least 24 hours prior to competition. Requests can be made using your personal KU ID and password on the following website: https://engr.ku.edu/printing-request
- Make sure to practice your “poster talk”.
- Poster presentations should be technical and field specific, but take care to promote the overall purpose and goals of the research to ensure the presentation is accessible to the general public.

Podium Presentations:
- Please bring a copy of your poster on a flash drive.
- Make sure to practice your podium presentation.
- Podium presentations should be technical and field specific, but take care to promote the overall purpose and goals of the research to ensure the presentation is accessible to the general public.

Awards:
- Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for both the poster and podium presentations.
- Undergrads and Graduate Students will be judged separately.
- Awards will range from $50-$300.
