Who can DONATE blood?
Most people can donate blood. You can donate blood if you:
• are fit and healthy
• weigh over 50kg
• are aged between 17 and 66 (or 70 if you have donated blood before)
• are over 70 and have donated blood in the last two years.

And who can’t?

You are not eligible to donate blood if you;
• Are sick (cold, flu, sore throat or diarrhoea).
• Have taken antibiotics within the last five days.
• Have had dental work within the last three days.
• Are anemic (iron deficiency, anemia).
• Are pregnant
• Have had any ear/body piercing, or have had a tattoo, within one year.


How often can I donate blood?
• Men can donate blood every 12 weeks and women can give blood every 16 weeks.
