Gowanus Neighborhood Needs Survey
Sparked by the Superfund clean-up of the Gowanus Canal and the recent neighborhood rezoning, the Gowanus Neighborhood is undergoing significant changes. Along with new development in coming years, Gowanus will see big investments in new parks and public space, including new waterfront esplanades developed on private properties, new public parks on top of sewage storage tanks and at Gowanus Green, and new street trees and green infrastructure. Together, these can be a cohesive and vibrant network of parks centered on the Gowanus Canal, supporting a community that has been long underserved by park space.
As a group of local residents, organizations, business owners and property owners, we are seeking community input about the conditions and needs for public space maintenance in Gowanus today, throughout construction and development, and after development is complete. A business improvement district, paid for by a special assessment, might be able to provide some of these services. As a neighborhood community member, your input is extremely valuable. Please take a moment to complete the following survey and return it to us. Thank you.
