Justice LA Call for Artists
DEADLINE EXTENDED TO THANKSGIVING DAY!

Justice LA (a coalition of 30+ organizations) is looking for 88 artists to shut down LA’s $3.5 billion jail plan. Artists will use the jail beds used at our campaign launch to create art, transforming symbols of oppression into symbols of protest, and drop them in public places in each of the 88 cities in LA County by Christmas Eve. You get to decide what you do with the jail beds, and where in your city you drop it.

Submit a brief proposal to jailbedsart@gmail.com by Thanksgiving, Nov. 23. Proposals should include your name, contact info, and your idea for the piece, along with examples of previous work, if you have them. We are prioritizing artists who have been directly impacted by incarceration and state violence - if this applies to you, please say so, if you feel comfortable. We will notify you of acceptance and city assignment by Monday Nov 27. And then you have a month to create your project.

Thank you! Looking forward to hearing your ideas.
