2022-23 Remote Judge Sign-Up Form
For the 2022-23 season, LeRoy Nelson and Los Angeles Robotics are sponsoring ten leagues for 240 VEX IQ teams at LAUSD elementary and middle schools plus four Championships for 168 VEX IQ teams at LAUSD high schools. You are invited to serve as a Remote Judge to review digital engineering notebooks and/or to interview robotics teams via Zoom. Being a robotics Judge is fun and rewarding.

•     Notebooks for Leagues: December 19-January 8 (on your schedule).
•     Interviews for Leagues: January 9-January 31 (weekdays, 4-8 PM).
•     Notebooks for Championships: February 20-March 5 (on your schedule).
•     Interviews for Championships: February 23-March 8 (weekdays, 4-8 PM).


LAUSD VEX IQ Leagues

Digital Engineering Notebooks for Leagues will be reviewed on your schedule during the Winter Break, December 19, 2022 - January 8, 2023. Notebooks will be pre-screened, so judges will only be reviewing fully-developed notebooks.  Each league will probably have 5-15 notebooks to review. You can review notebook for as few or as many leagues as your time permits. Each league typically takes 2-6 hours to review.

Remote Judging Interviews for Leagues will be held after school between Monday, January 9, 2023 and Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Each Zoom interview session will be up to four hours with a 20-minute break in the middle. One or two interviews will be scheduled the first hour and up to three interviews will be scheduled each subsequent hour. Each interview is limited to 10 minutes and will use a standard script of questions. Judges should sign into Zoom 30 minutes before their first Remote Judging interview session for orientation and 10 minutes before each subsequent session.

Los Angeles VEX IQ Championships

Digital Engineering Notebooks for four Championships will be reviewed on your schedule during the last week of February and the first week of March: between February 20 and March 5, 2023. Notebooks will be pre-screened, so judges will only be reviewing fully-developed notebooks. Each event will probably have 10-15 notebooks to review. You can review notebook for as few or as many events as your time permits. Each event typically takes 4-6 hours to review.

Remote Judging Interviews for Championships will be held after school between Thursday, February 23, 2023 and Wednesday, March 8, 2023. Each Zoom interview session will be up to four hours with a 20-minute break in the middle. One or two interviews will be scheduled the first hour and up to three interviews will be scheduled each subsequent hour. Each interview is limited to 10 minutes and will use a standard script of questions. Judges should sign into Zoom 30 minutes before their first Remote Judging interview session for orientation and 10 minutes before each subsequent session.
