Dear West Virginia Social Studies and Civics Educators and Related Providers-
The West Virginia Civics Coalition, established in 2022, is a cross-partisan group of organizations and individuals dedicated to expanding access to high-quality civics and history education for all of our state’s K-12 youth, higher education institutes, and adults. Our coalition is made up of West Virginia non-profits, educators, businesses, community leaders, think tanks, universities, and other partners committed to preparing students and citizens to be informed, engaged participants in West Virginia civic life.
The goals and objectives of our coalition are to:
- Strengthen West Virginia civic education in public school through bipartisan collaboration.
- Advocate on behalf of civic education legislation, polices, funding, and resources.
- Promote constitutional literacy, critical thinking, and civic engagement.
Needs Questionnaire Survey:
To best understand the needs of the state so our coalition can advocate for the needs within the classroom, this survey will help us identify what you, the individuals on the ground implementing this work, think are the strengths and needs this coalition should focus on as work to teach, celebrate, and improve our nation and state’s constitutional democracy.
As a first step, we are reaching out to you with a questionnaire, a first chance to get your ideas about how we should best proceed, and what your concerns and interest are in maintaining and advancing civics education in West Virginia. The survey results will be documented in a report that recommends improvements to strengthen the civic health of the state. The report will also be used to initiate legislative conversations about the civic education needs of classroom educators.
We value the professional time of all educators. Therefore, participant names will be included in a random drawing for one of TWENTY $30 Amazon gift cards. It should take around 15 minutes to complete.
