Get involved with Chinatown Action Group!
The recent success of 105 Keefer shows the power of working class people and allies to effect social change through community organizing. But the struggle for affordable and social housing in Chinatown is not over.
The City of Vancouver is furthering policies under the Chinatown Economic Revitalization Action Plan (or the CRAP) that will allow developers to build luxury condos with no public benefit.
Over the past year, CAG has been working with hundreds of community members to develop a People’s Vision for Chinatown, a strategy for social and economic development that centers on the needs and solutions identified by working class residents.
CAG is seeking volunteers to help make this community vision a reality. We need volunteers to help with Cantonese and Mandarin translation, door-knocking, event logistics, social media outreach, and much more. Volunteers will be trained on how to talk with residents at the doors before they begin. Are you interested in building relationships with residents in Chinatown? Want to build a progressive, left voice in the Chinese community? We want you to join us!
