Internship Reflection Assignment
Dear Internship Students:

Please complete the reflection assignment below five times during the summer or academic semester in weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 of your internship placement. The exact due dates will depend on the timeframe of your internship work. Students may submit the assignment on any day of the relevant week.

Students will report the number of internship service hours completed since the last submission. The first assignment can include any service hours previous to the first due date.

Service hours include any hours spent working for your internship setting, including preparation and mentoring time.

By the end of the summer or academic year, you must have logged 300 internship service hours.

I. Internship Service and Context Observation
How many total hours of internship service did you complete in this time period (minus commuting/travel time)? MIN 602 ("Reflection Seminar") students should average 7-8 hours per week. Please only indicate the number of hours (e.g., "7.5") - the number only will help us to add up your hours more easily. *
How many hours of commuting/travel time to and from your internship placement did you log this week? *
Please briefly describe the work you did in your internship setting this week. Also indicate the dates of your work and approximate hours spent on each task. E.g.: "7/1/2024: taught in summer school program in the morning (3 hours); prepared for Wednesday evening bible study in the afternoon (3 hours)." Include travel time (up to 40 hours for the summer) and your weekly mentoring meeting. *
What have you observed or noticed in your internship work this week that you have not noticed previously? How might this observation inform your leadership in your setting? *
Did you complete your one hour meeting with your mentor this week? *
If not, please name the reason why you did not meet with your mentor. What is your plan for rescheduling the meeting?
II. Theological Reflection
In our initial course meetings, we will practice the awareness examen, an one approach to centering and prayer that follows this pattern:

(1) Become aware of God's presence;

(2) Review the day or week with gratitude;

(3) Pay attention to your emotions;

(4) Choose one feature of the day/week and pray from it;

(5) Look toward tomorrow/next week and pray towards it

We’d like for you to take some time this week to reflect on these questions and also consider what your responses to these questions might mean the way that God is calling you in your life and ministry. What do you learn about your ministry or ministry context in paying attention to these questions?

Take a few moments in quiet reflection each week prayerfully to consider these two prompts. Then, in ONE OR TWO SENTENCES, please reply to each prompt below. Your responses don’t have to be long, but feel free to write as much as you’d like.
(1) Where did I see God working in my life and ministry this week? You might see God working in those areas in your life to which you feel drawn or where you have energy or passion. (2) Going forward, how might I need to respond to God working in my life and ministry?

Also - what resources from your Wake Div courses inform the way you see and interpret God's presence and work in your internship setting?
*
(2) Where did God seem challenging, elusive, or even absent in my life and ministry in this past week? You might be challenged to discern God's presence in those areas of your life that feel de-energizing, fraught, or abrasive. How might I respond intentionally to these experiences? (It's OK if you do not experience God in this way at this time.) *
III. Learning Goals Update
Consider the learning goals that you articulated in your Learning Plan. Please report on any substantial progress towards your learning goals from this week. Also: what goals don't seem to be panning out, and what do you need to do to work on them or change them? (Answers to this question are optional.)
Are you experiencing any problems in your internship setting for which you need the assistance of the Director of the Art of Ministry? *
