Demo days are a privilege extended to bike shops and brands as a way to showcase their bikes, engage the community, and support the trails. By hosting a demo day, brands contribute directly to the sustainability and stewardship of the Massanutten Western Slope Trails.

Eligibility & Frequency
  • Demo days may be hosted by bike shops or bicycle brands.

  • Each shop or brand is limited to 2 demo days per calendar year.

  • The system as a whole is limited to 10 demo days per year total.

  • All demo days must be approved by the Coalition and Massanutten Resort in advance.

Application Process
  • Applications must be submitted at least 30 days in advance.

  • Applications must include:

    • Proof of liability insurance naming Massanutten Resort and the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition as additionally insured.

    • Event details (date, estimated number of bikes, trucks, staff, etc.).

Demo days will be published on WesternSlopeTrails.org and/or the Coalition event calendar to notify the public.
I commit to emailing Proof of liability insurance naming Massanutten Resort and the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition as additionally insured.

I understand that the demo day will be cancelled if proof of insurance is not received by 7 days prior to the event.

Donation Requirement  
  • A flat-fee donation is required per demo day.

    • Each demo day requires a minimum $350 donation towards the Western Slope Trail Fund.

    • Day passes for the Western Slope are $10 per day but all guests associated with the demo day will fall under the bike shop/ bike brands event registration and donation.

  • Donations are earmarked for the current phase of the Western Slope Trail Plan to directly support trail improvements and expansion.

I understand and a agree that I will need to donate a minimum of $350 via ACH or check to the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition prior to my event.

Logistics & Stewardship
  • Demo hosts are fully responsible for trash cleanup and must leave the parking area and trail access clean and orderly.

  • Demo days will typically operate out of the Western Slope parking lot.

  • If a large event setup is planned (multiple trailers, large displays, etc.), Massanutten and Coalition may require special provisions or use of the adjacent field near the pavilion.

  • No additional rules on banners, tents, or promotional materials; these are allowed unless otherwise communicated.

  • There is no potable water available on the Western Slope Trails. You will need to provide any and all water for your event and guests.

  • No cars are permitted on Del Webb Dr as part of the event.

Other Expectations
  • Demo days are expected to operate in a way that respects other trail users, parking capacity, and the unique public-private partnership of the Western Slope.

  • Demo hosts are asked to promote responsible trail use and support Coalition trail stewardship messaging as part of their event. Trails are shared use for foot and bike travel.

  • Demo hosts are expected to serve as ambassadors to their guests to help them understand the unique partnership and encourage annual trail passes for any participants. 

  • Demo hosts should also communicate volunteer trail-building/maintenance opportunities.

  • Massanutten Resort and the Coalition will handle final approval of demo day requests.

  • Demo days may be denied or rescheduled at Massanutten Resort’s discretion to avoid conflicts with major events, trail work, or peak usage periods.

Optional Add-Ons for Hosts (Not Required but Encouraged)
  • Participate in a Coalition trail workday.

  • Sponsor a trail project or additional stewardship effort.
