Please take this opportunity to share with me, Erin (DECL Garden Director), your interest in tending to a community garden plot in downtown's brand new Alex Decoteau Park located on the northwest corner of 105 Street and 102 Avenue. Members must prove residence within the DECL boundaries and must not be involved with another community garden. Depending on interest, plots and plot sizes will be assigned through a lottery system with extra interested members placed on a waiting list, also via lottery system. You will be notified by April 30th whether you have been assigned a plot or are on the waiting list.
Signing the Terms of Reference for Gardeners will be completed once accepted at our Kick Off Meeting on May 5th (mandatory). Plot fees will not exceed $45 (TBD, based on plot size) per season and includes DECL membership (sizes TBD). There will be a planting deadline of June 4th, failure to plant by the deadline will not result in a refund and your plot given to next person on waiting list. The inventory of equipment and tools provided will be discussed at the meeting on May 5th.
There are also opportunities to be more involved as a Community Garden Committee member (meeting once per month, starting evening of May 9th) with roles (subject to change) such as:
1. Chair (Garden Director)2. Vice Chair3. Finance 4. Secretary5. Site & Plot Maintenance6. Social Committee7. Education Committee8. Other
Thank you for your patience as we try to make our first season a successful one!
