We believe in our students having as many experiences in their developing years as we can provide. Please look through the following experiences that we have planned for your student this year. We have included an estimated cost for a few of the trips. Your attention to this helps greatly with the planning process with regards to permission slip collecting. We will provide an update of each trip in our weekly email home from Mr. Haggerty. Here is an outline of what to expect:

-Rotary Park Field Trip September 20, 2024
*parent volunteers needed please reach out to adevogel@erschools.com and include your full name and birthdate if you'd be willing to accompany our student groups. 

-Mackinaw Island June 2, 2025 $30

*parents are welcome to attend this, but we will reach out as time grows nearer

In an effort to take advantage of warmer September weather and engage with our local community, the CMS 8th grade team is planning a CMS fall field trip Friday, September 20, 2024. If we have inclement weather we will cancel.  

The 8th grade will walk down to Memorial Park for hands-on teaching and learning. We will depart from CMS at 8am and return after lunch. The topics to be covered at multiple stations are:

Norte bike maintenance      
Water Testing
Hands Only CPR
Paddle boarding on Elk River 
Team building            
Vestibular System Presentation by Torch Lake Chiropractic 
Farmer’s Market Tour
Breakout box challenge w/ historical connections to ER

Since this constitutes a contrast to our normal days in school please be aware of the following health and safety precautions that are being put in place:

The water students will paddle board in will not be deeper than what they could stand in.
All students on the water will wear a life vest.
Students and staff will walk to the location and then back when they finish.

*Students will want a change of clothes should they get wet.
