Course Expectations
Dates: September 18, 2024 - October 23, 2024

On a weekly basis you will:
1. Review ~2 hours course content (reading and videos) 
2. Work on a project that is designed to help you apply the information you're learning in class to your everyday life. You will select a track - kitchen, garden or school - and develop a deeper knowledge of food recovery in one of these areas.
3. Attend at least 4 of 8 field sessions. 

Internship Expectations

In order to become a certified URI Extension Food Recovery volunteer, you must complete 40 hours of volunteer service on affiliated volunteer projects, within a suggested 2 years.

4.  The mission of Food Recovery for Rhode Island is to come together around the issues of food waste, food security and the environment, learn something new, and volunteer to support community-driven change. 

Why would you like to become a URI Extension Food Recovery volunteer?

5. We are preparing people to volunteer in the community to share concepts, ideas, and resources. We are also taking steps to ensure that every participant feels a sense of belonging and part of a safe learning community.  Thus, this class will include learnings and discussions on the topics of social justice, equity, diversity and inclusion.
