Superposition IV Volunteer Application Form
Superposition IV is the oldest and largest 24-hour hackathon for high school and college females (trans and non-binary inclusive) in the Bay Area. Thank you for considering volunteering at Superposition IV! You will be vital in making our hackathon a success. For more information, please visit

Location | Uber Headquarters: 1455 Market Street, San Francisco, California 94103
Date | February 29 - March 1, 2020

Note: Applicants identifying with any gender are welcome to apply! Only WIT panelists must be female-presenting or non-binary.

→ Judges: Though Superposition IV isn’t focused on the competition, we’d like to recognize our attendees for their hard work and dedication. Projects will be judged based on the following criteria:
• Presentation: Based on pitch to judges
• Aesthetics: Based on design, UX and UI
• Usefulness: Based on practical usage
• Originality: Based on originality/creativity
• Difficulty: Based on technicality
A judging guide will be provided upon confirmation of your role, and previous experience is not required. Judging will take place Sunday morning, and judges will need to stay from approximately 9 AM - 12 PM.

→ Mentors: As a mentor, your role is to guide our attendees with their projects by offering your encouragement and technical expertise. We hope they gain a greater understanding and passion for computer science through collaborating with you. Your responsibilities may include:
• Teaching problem-solving strategies and techniques
• Sharing your experiences (not necessarily in computer science) with the attendees
• Monitoring the Slack channel #mentors to find attendees seeking for mentors (will be set up as we near closer to the event)
Mentors will be volunteering in shifts of approximately 4 hours on Saturday or Sunday, and may sign up for multiple shifts. A mentoring guide will be provided closer to the event.

→ Panelists: One of the most unique aspects of Superposition IV is our Women in Tech panel, who will be speaking about their experiences in the industry, as well as answering questions from the audience. The session will run for approximately 30-60 minutes during dinner on Saturday at 7:00 PM (subject to change). This is the perfect opportunity to share your story and impact in the tech field, and potentially inspire more females to follow in your footsteps.

→ Workshop: An essential part of the hackathon experience is attending workshops and discovering new and exciting topics. Previous workshops have included Intro to CSS & HTML, Intro to Java, Web Development, Cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence, as well as soft skills such as Ideation and Pitching a Project. The workshop topics are flexible, and we’d be more than happy to work with you on any presentation you’d like to give. Presenters often prepare slides to accompany their workshop, which will take approximately 30 minutes to an hour. This role is perfect for those who are only available for an hour or two, but would still like to support Superposition.
