Date: Saturday, June 8Meet at: 9:00 amRiver: 2.9 miles of Middle River, in the lower part of the river. Cost: $10 per person, which covers insurance through the American Canoe Association. (Backup Raindate: Sunday, June 9 )
This is a trip where we will take our time floating down the river and fishing along the way in a stretch that is known to be good for angling! You will need to purchase fishing licenses in advance at https://www.dgif.virginia.gov/licenses/.
If you do not want to fish, this is NOT the trip for you.
You supply your own boat (canoe or kayak), paddle and life vest (required). We coordinated the vehicle shuttles, provide staffing, coordinate for permission from private landowners and provide insurance.
The purpose of all FOMR float trips is to introduce people to a river that has previously been somewhat inaccessible. You'll learn how to use some of the put-ins and take-outs available to River Access Program members. Canoe and kayak events— by their nature— are subject to change or cancellation due to high water, weather or other natural hazardous conditions. Once you sign up, and are notified that you are registered, we will email you with more details about where to meet and we will send you the paperwork you need to bring to the float.
Look out, smallmouth bass, here we come!
