Shelter Friends is an organization made up of volunteers (ages 18 and older) with the following goals:
- Shelter Friends exists to improve and enrich the shelter experience for adoptable animals at the Cherokee Animal Shelter located at 1015 Univeter Road in Canton, Georgia.
- Shelter Friends volunteers work intimately with both dogs and cats at the shelter to socialize, exercise, and provide mental stimulation through daily walks (dogs), human-to-animal contact and play, training and problem behavior resolution, and interactive play (learning through play).
- Shelter Friends also raises community awareness about adoptable animals at the shelter as well as participates in fundraising and community outreach activities.
The group volunteers Tuesdays through Fridays 10 am - 4 pm.
