We are not currently reviewing interest forms for our curatorial panels, but you can submit this form anytime to express interest. We will begin reviewing the form submissions in spring 2026 for our 2027 program.

The annual on-ice program is primarily curated through an open call process. To review, score, discuss and select submissions, we assemble two panels made up of Art Shanty representatives (Artistic Director + 1 board member), local artists and arts professionals. There are two juries: one for shanties (physical structures that remain up all month and are activated by artists) and one for performances + art actions (rotating activities that pop up throughout the village at different times).

Panelists review approximately 20-30 proposals on their own, score them against a rubric that we provide, and then convene together for an afternoon to discuss and select projects.

Annual timeline:

  • June-July: jurors are selected; artist proposals are due
  • August: jurors meet to discuss and select proposals

Commitment: advance review of proposals + one 4-hour in-person session to discuss together

This is a volunteer position. We provide an honorarium for your service.

YIKES! A DEMOGRAPHICS SECTION!
We are collecting demographics of everyone involved in our program, including jurors.  Answering these questions helps Art Shanty Projects with grant proposals and internal evaluations. All questions are required, but you can always choose 'I decline to state.'  

We recognize this is generally a gross thing, but it helps us stay funded in a gross system.
