What is Earth Angel?
Earth Angel is the East Coast’s leading environmental consulting company for the entertainment industry. Since 2011, Earth Angel has diverted over 2,500 tons of on-set waste from landfills, donated excess materials to over a dozen local NYC charities, and continuously strives toward more sustainable film and television practices every day. Past productions include: Aronofsky’s Noah, Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Columbia Pictures’ remake of Annie, CBS Television’s Madam Secretary – Season 2, Elementary – Season 2, HBO’s upcoming new series Vinyl, Showtime’s upcoming new series Billions, Jodie Foster’s Money Monster and Disney’s Queen of Katwe.
What is an Eco Assistant?
An Eco Assistant is the production’s go-to on-set sustainability representative. Together with the Eco Supervisor, they make up the team that is responsible for both monitoring and reducing the show’s carbon footprint. The key to a successful sustainability campaign on set is having a physical presence to educate crew and assist with the everyday practicalities of running an eco-friendly set.
Duties on Set
- Implement waste diversion and log daily waste output- Educate and engage cast & crew on the production’s environmental efforts- Facilitate daily donations of leftover food to local shelters- Facilitate specialty recycling (i.e. electronics)- Support and troubleshoot plastic-free crew hydration system
Requirements of an Eco Assistant
- Basic recycling/composting knowledge preferred- Basic set knowledge/etiquette preferred- Able to work long hours (12 hours per day minimum)- Willing to get hands dirty - Hard-working, comfortable with manual labor- Friendly, positive attitude - Reliable and punctual- Passion for the environment
