Peace 26 Brigade Initial Crew Leader (Canoe) Registration

July 4-10, 2026:  Peace River, Alberta


The Peace 26 Brigade organizing committee invites Crew Leaders to register their voyageur canoes to secure participation in the brigade (maximum 8 canoes).

Registration is in two parts:

1.    Initial Crew Leader (Canoe) Registration and deposit; and

2.    Final Crew Member Registration and final payment.


Crew Leader Responsibilities

Crew Leaders have several key responsibilities:

  • arrange for your crew's canoe
  • collect fees from Crew Members ("Crew Members" include Crew Leader, paddlers and ground support)
  • ensure that all paddlers in your canoe are registered as CVBS members for insurance purposes
  • complete this Initial Crew Leader (Canoe) Registration form and pay deposit
  • fill your canoe with paddlers (Brigade Registrar will provide contact information for unattached paddlers, if requested)
  • collect registration information from Crew Members (i.e. CVBS registration number, emergency contact, dietary restrictions, allergies, camping equipment requirements, etc.)
  • complete the Final Crew Member Registration form and pay the remaining fees
  • ensure your crew's travel arrangements are made - boat transportation, camping, meals, site to site moves
  • ensure that any pets travelling with your crew are leashed, have their waste properly disposed of, and do not impact the safety of the trip/paddlers or the enjoyment of the paddlers
  • ensure your canoe has adequate insurance for theft, loss or damage
  • liaise with crew members and brigade organizers

Initial Crew Leader (Canoe) Registration

This initial registration form is for Crew Leaders to register their voyageur canoe plus three crew members, including the Crew Leader.  

Deadline to register your canoe is May 1, 2026.


Number of Canoes

8 canoes based on first-come, first serve registration.  

Any registrations over 8 canoes will be notified of their waitlist status. In the event a canoe drops out, the Brigade Registrar will contact waitlisted Crew Leaders in order of initial registration.


CVBS Membership

The Crew Leader and all Crew Members must be Canadian Voyageur Brigade Society (“CVBS”) members to register for this brigade for insurance purposes.

Crew Member Registration

The deadline for the Crew Leader to register their Crew Members is May 15, 2026.

If Crew Members are not registered by this date, your canoe's registration is deemed to have been withdrawn and a waitlisted crew will be contacted to fill the space.


Cost

$2,000 for a 10-member crew, includes Crew Leader and Crew Members

$200 per additional Crew Member


Deposit

A $300 deposit is due within 24 hours of the Crew Leader registering their canoe to hold their registration priority.

If you are one of the first 8 canoes to register ("Registered Crew"), your deposit is non-refundable.

If you are waitlisted and no space opens up for your canoe on the brigade, your deposit will be returned to you after July 1, 2026.


Final Payment

The remaining brigade fee of $1,700 plus $200 per additional crew member is due on May 15, 2026.

If payment is not made by this date by a Registered Crew, your canoe's registration is deemed to have been withdrawn and a waitlisted crew will be contacted to fill the space.


Withdrawal

Any Registered Crew withdrawing by June 1 will receive a full refund of fees paid minus the $300 non-refundable deposit.  

Any Registered Crew withdrawing between June 2 and 15 will receive a $1,000 refund.

No refund will be paid to any Registered Crew withdrawing after June 15.

Unattached Paddlers

If you know of an unattached paddler looking for a crew, please have them either:

Young Paddlers

We do our best to encourage young people to paddle with us. It is expected that a parent or guardian will be present in the boat with any paddlers under the age of 12 and traveling with the brigade if any paddler is between 12 and 16 years of age.


Important Dates

March 1, 2026 - Initial Crew Leader (Canoe) registration opens.

Within 24 hours of registering canoe - Pay $300 deposit.

May 1, 2026 - Registration closes.

May 15, 2026 - All remaining Crew Members must be registered.

May 15, 2026 - $1,700.00 payment due + $200 per Crew Member over 10 Crew Members.

June 1, 2026 - Full refund minus $300 non-refundable deposit if canoe withdraws.

June 15, 2026 - Partial refund of $1,000.

After June 15, 2026 - No refund.

July 1, 2026 - Any additional fees paid (i.e. unattached paddlers)
