Petition: Complete the sale of Point Reyes Station Coast Guard property and expedite affordable housing for the community
The Point Reyes Station community, citizens across West Marin and Marin County rallied collective efforts in 2015 that led to federal legislation in 2016. H.R. 4188 directs the Point Reyes Station Coast Guard Housing Site to be sold to the County of Marin to be reused as affordable housing. Now, after 3 years, the community has no information about when the sale will be completed. The legislation set a 4-year window for the sale to be completed by February 2020, a mere year from now. We are very concerned this opportunity could be lost.

We all agree that a lack of affordable housing hurts everyone. It hurts families, employers, our tourist economy, and our schools. The Point Reyes Coast Guard property can help alleviate this problem. The 32-acre property has 36 townhomes and many amenities that make it perfect for affordable homes for families, seniors, and community infrastructure. West Marin needs this housing now!

We trust that the County of Marin and Congressman Huffman can finalize the sale soon. Please make sure this opportunity to expand housing stability is not lost. Please complete the sale and expedite the redevelopment process. It is so important for our community.
