Dear Metea Valley Musician:
We want to welcome you into one of Metea Valley High School’s most visible and exciting programs as well as congratulate last year’s members on a terrific year. We are very excited about another successful Marching Mustangs season at Metea Valley High School. The Metea Valley High School Marching Mustangs is part of our music department’s strong foundation of excellence in music education. The Marching Mustangs is a highly visible music and marching ensemble in the school and community.

The twelfth year of the Marching Mustangs will prove to be an exceptional experience. We want to personally invite you to be a part of the Marching Mustangs. We are planning to perform at five home football games, two community parades, the Northern Illinois University Red & Black Marching Festival, the District 204 Marching Band Festival, and a trip to Cleveland, Ohio, with performances at the Rock n Roll Hal of Fame and Cedar Point Amusement Park. We will perform a full half-time show, pre-game show, parade marches, as well as pep music in the stands during our season.

You will provide registration information below, including your commitment to the ensemble, and the season schedule. Please read through the registration and application, and take note of the fees that are involved with becoming a member. Please submit the online application which includes paying the non-refundable fee of $125.00 to commit to the Marching Mustangs 2020-2021 season. This payment should be made via check made payable to MVHS Music.

While there is no audition to be a part of the Marching Mustangs as a woodwind, brass, or percussion player, we do require tryouts for our color guard (flags). If you are interested in color guard, please take note of the required workshops and audition date. Students interested in becoming a marching leader or drum major for the 2020-2021 Season should attend the workshop on April 9, 2020 @ 6:45am for information about that process.

The season begins in early June, where all members will have three required "pre-camp" sessions on June 1, 2, 3, from 8am-11:30am to distribute music, instruments, and discuss the goals and procedures for the upcoming season. We will also learn ALL of the music and fundamental marching necessary to perform. During these practices we will establish section leadership. These camps and all other practices occur in the Metea Valley Band Room (Enter at Door 5).

All members are required to attend the all day camp rehearsals that begin in August in order to learn the half-time show, pre-game show, and prepare for our first parade. Thursday, August 6 will be the first day back after your summer vacation. All camp rehearsals will take place from 8am-5pm unless otherwise noted, with a scheduled ON-CAMPUS lunch time.

Take note of the TENTATIVE calendar of marching band rehearsals and performances. Members of the Marching Mustangs are required to attend all marching band events since your role in the group is vital! With performances immediately following our return to school, it is imperative that we have all members at all rehearsals. Your attendance is crucial to our success as an organization.

This year we will be taking an additional trip to the CLEVELAND, OH. All members are asked to attend this trip, and the cost is estimated at $399.00. More information to come regarding getting registered for this trip. The trips we take with the Marching Band are highly interactive and professionally planned. Students always have great experiences on these trips and will keep these memories forever.

We are very excited for you to participate in the 2020-2021 Marching Mustang's season. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 630-375-5900, or by email -
