36 Seconds: Portrait of a Hate Crime February 12th | 7pm to 9:30pm | Witherspoon Cinema, Witherspoon Student Center

Join Multicultural Student Affairs for an enlightening event featuring filmmaker Tarek Albaba and the screening of his impactful film 36 Seconds: Portrait of a Hate Crime.  The film delves into the aftermath of the Feb. 10, 2015, shooting deaths of Muslim-Americans Deah Barakat, his wife, Yusor Abu-Salha, and Yusor Abu-Salha's sister, Razan Abu-Salha, at their Chapel Hill apartment complex. Barakat and Yusor Abu-Salha earned bachelor's degrees at NC State in 2013 and 2014, respectively. Razan Abu-Salha was a sophomore at the university at the time of her death. A Q&A with Tarek Albaba and Suzanne Barakat, Deah Barakat's sister, will follow the screening.

This event and all other MSA-sponsored and hosted- programs are open to community members and NC State students, faculty, staff and alumni from all backgrounds.
