"Dear Rochester City Council Members Melendez, Gruber, Lightfoot, Martin, Smith, Lupien, Patterson, Harris, and Monroe.

We are writing to you all as a broad based coalition of Rochester residents, organizations, students, and community members to request your support for the growing international demand for a total and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.

At this time, nearly 2 million Palestinians have been displaced and 26,000 have been brutally killed. An additional 60,000 have been injured with over 8,000 still buried under the rubble; this is all due to the State of Israel's incessant and indiscriminate carpet bombing of residential buildings, places of worship, hospitals, and schools. These circumstances in absence of basic humanitarian aid such as food, clean water, and medicine are rapidly deteriorating subjecting an entire populous to famine and disease.

Every day that we remain silent, these numbers grow and circumstances worsen. We implore you to take action and pass a ceasefire resolution in the City of Rochester. We implore you to take a strong and clear position against the atrocious acts that Israel continues to inflict upon the Palestinians of Gaza through the Israeli apartheid regime. Furthermore, we recognize the growing international demand for a ceasefire, based in tenets of love, respect, and preservation of all human life."
