The GCDN 2026 research project is being undertaken in collaboration with the Committee on Culture of UCLG – United Cities and Local Governments.
Cultural Districts interact at many
levels with local governments. Conversely, for cities and regions, culture is
an essential component of attractiveness, development, and societal well-being.
Both sides of this ‘equation’, cultural districts and governments, gain from a
synergetic relationship.
The research will explore actual and potential forms of
synergies through the lens of reciprocity. In other words, it will research
value flows in both directions, underlining what both sides have to gain from
close collaboration.
The following survey of GCDN members and other Cultural Districts proposed by UCLG member cities aims to enrich our understanding of the current state of Cultural Districts' connections to and engagement with local government. We would be grateful if you could respond before June 30th, 2025.
A separate survey has been created for local governments. You can consult it here.
