Joanne Winik Public Media Women in Leadership Scholarship
The Joanne Winik Public Media Women in Leadership Scholarship, funded by CPB, will support a woman working in public media to attend the July, 2017 PMDMC conference in San Francisco. The winner will also have the benefit of conference mentoring from a female leader in public media while attending the meeting. The scholarship will cover travel, lodging and registration and will be administered by the PMWL committee. The application process opens in February, 2017. Joanne Winik was the former president of KLRN-TV in San Antonio, TX and one of the first woman GMs in the industry.

Criteria:
The Joanne Winik Public Media Women in Leadership Scholarship is open to any woman working full time in public media at an organization that couldn’t otherwise afford to send her to the conference. Preference will be given to applicants from stations that are progressive in their commitment to community/local service but don’t have the level of budget to invest much in staff professional development. Preference also will be given to applicants with less than five years of service in the industry who have not previously attended the PMDMC. In considering candidates, the PMWL is committed to supporting the diversity of female colleagues in the system.

Applicants are requested to fully answer the following questions when applying for the scholarship. We recommend you type out your responses in Word first, then copy and paste into the form.

Applications will be accepted until Wednesday, April 12, 2017. The scholarship recipient will be notified by the end of April, 2017.
