Course Description:
The race will take place on Marshall Street behind the brewery. The course is a 250-foot-long concrete straight at a 3% to 5% downgrade.  There is a final turn after the finish line that will be used for the distance race and for the deacceleration zone.  You will have a 15-foot push box “acceleration zone” before the starting line where up to (4) team members are allowed to push their respective soap box car to increase speed.
Race Rules

Fastest Overall Time:

All cars will race the course once to identify the top 8 fastest cars.

The top 8 cars will be ranked based on fastest time and compete in a bracket style race with a Quarterfinal, Semi-final, and Final round to determine the overall winner. The losers from the Semi-final round will race-off to determine the 3rd place winner.

 Furthest Distance:

From the starting line, all cars will race down the course and continue through the right turn as far as possible.  The furthest distance from the starting line will determine the winner. The top 3 furthest distances in order will win 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners

 Slalom Race:

All cars will race individually down a randomized slalom course and around straw bale obstacles.  No penalties will incur if you hit an obstacle, but your time will suffer because of it. Fastest time through the course will determine the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

 Best Performance:

Best Performance is judged on showmanship, costume, and cart design.  This will be judged by our official S.L.B.C. Derby Judges. There will be one 1st place winner only in this category.
